pucker factor

You walk into the house to find a late 20's woman on the couch actively in labor. Contractions coming on top of each other. She states she thinks her water may have broken but is unsure. Your patient is G7 P5 with little to no prenatal care during this pregnancy. Getting info is difficult. She complains of vaginal pressure but no urge to push. Enroute to the hospital she starts telling you how she has never delivered naturally and all her other babies came by C section. When you finally get the why of the story out of her she tells you that she had htn, pre eclampsia, and sepsis. With ALL of her other kids.
And you think oh hell just get me to L&D please.

Eesh! G7P5 - things can happen VERY quickly with those multips!

It's even more interesting when Mom doesn't speak English... Had that happen with a Somali woman once. She was crowning when we walked through the door, ended up delivering at home. No time to be freaked out over it - there was just no time....

I would prefer no time. Just give me my stuff and let's do it. All that time gives you plenty of opportunity to imagine everything that shouldn't happen.

late 20's . . . G7 P5 with little to no prenatal care during this pregnancy . . . all her other babies came by C section . . . she had htn, pre eclampsia, and sepsis. With ALL of her other kids.

Avoiding prenatal care with that history?

Just more evidence that there is no cure for stupid.
